Physical & Aquatic Therapy
The Camas Center Clinic offers a diverse physical therapy service to the general public. Our physical therapist is Joni Francisco PT, DPT. Joni graduated from Idaho State University with a Doctorate in Physical Therapy. Joni has a special interest in aquatic, vestibular, and pediatric therapy.
Here at the Camas Center Clinic we provide traditional physical therapy on land for orthopedic conditions, post-surgery, developmental disabilities, vestibular disorders, balance disorders, sport injuries, post-motor vehicle injuries, neurologic conditions, chronic pain, and wellness.
We have the added benefit of the therapy pool to provide aquatic physical therapy. This mode of treatment is especially beneficial for arthritis, obesity, chronic pain, degenerative disease, balance deficits, lower extremity injuries and replacements, and neurologic disorders such as after stroke. Water provides decreased load in joints, stabilization, relaxes muscles, increased venous return (decreased swelling), increased body awareness, decreased pain, and allows a safe environment to perform activities you unable or difficult to do on land. In return, pool therapy leads to decreased pain, increased range of motion, increased strength, decreased stress, increased circulation, increased balance and coordination, increased bone density, and improved gait mechanics (walking improvements).
The physical therapist will perform a detailed initial evaluation and develop an individualized treatment plan for each patient. Some of the treatments provided by our therapist are manual therapy techniques, neuromuscular re-education, therapeutic activities, therapeutic exercise, self-care skills, and functional activity training. The aim of physical therapy is to provide treatment and tools to allow a person to return to their normal activities of daily living.
